Elk City man charged with Rape of a Child Under 14
A 39-year-old Elk City man is being held in the Beckham County Detention Center for one count of rape in the first degree and two counts of lewd and indecent acts to a minor after an Elk City detective uncovered evidence to support the allegations.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the detective first became aware of the allegations after being contacted by an ECPD Sgt. in reference to the case, disclosing that an 11-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted by an adult family member, later identified as Leno Gonzales.
The child was given a forensic interview by an investigator from the Oklahoma Department of Human Services while the detective watched from a closed-circuit television in a separate room.
During the forensic interview, the child disclosed that she was speaking with the DHS investigator because of child molestation. She stated that a couple weeks after school started that Gonzales started telling her that he loved her.
