Park takes over as Chairman of RCCT

Elk City’s Red Carpet Community Theatre sits in good hands with Lori Park stepping up to replace Lake Carpenter as the Chairman of the Board of Directors. She is a veteran to theatre and brings years of experience to the job. 

“I graduated from Sayre High School and SWOSU with a bachelors in music education. I taught at Sayre the first three years of my teaching career, then at Moore High School for 14 years.  I am in my 17th year at Elk City.   I have directed over 25 shows as either the main director, or the music director,” Park explained.

She also has numerous awards as well as having former students who are excelling in the arts. Although modest about her accomplishments, she has consistently produced outstanding musicals during her Elk City career.

‘I have had several honors in my career.  My choirs are in Moore where they were selected to be one of two groups invited to perform with Cantebury Choral Society,  my choirs at both schools have won numerous Sweepstakes awards.  I have former students who are performing in Opera all over the world, or are in theater in NYC.  I was selected as Elk City School District Teacher of the Year a few years ago,” she added.

As she reflected on her role at RCCT she indicated her excitement about the board and the progress that has taken place over the past two weeks, in which they have added new board members who seem to bring fresh ideas and views to the table.

“I am very excited about the board. We are all making a concerted effort to move forward in a positive and welcoming way, reaching out to our community more than ever before,” Park said.

The current board consists of Park as chairman, Scott Jay as vice-chair, Elesia Church as treasurer, Nan Moyer as secretary, with members Carlie Bodey, Diane Elvaker, Nicole Frech, Marc Moyer, and Sheryl Ponce. They are a working board, which means that they are the custodians, groundkeeper, as well as handling the performances and technical side of the productions.
