George Albert Stovall, Jr.
George Albert Stovall, Jr. of Richardson, Texas passed away January 22, 2019, at the age of 88. He was born May 19, 1930, to George Albert Stovall, Sr. and Una Opal Shields in Sayre, Oklahoma. George married his childhood sweetheart, Gwendolyn Janet Woods on June 28, 1950, in Sayre, Oklahoma. For four years, he served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Korean War. George owned and operated an insurance agency for forty years with honesty and integrity. He was an active member of Kiwanis for many years, served on the Board of Directors for Oklahoma State University, as well as the Richardson National Bank, and was one of the first, if not, the first president of Pearce High School Football Booster Club. George had a passion for football. He coached the Optimist Colts to two undefeated seasons and two Turkey Bowl Championships. George truly understood the game. One of the many things he enjoyed was going to the lake every weekend. George loved his grandkids and great-grandkids, more than anyone; he truly loved his wife of 68 years.
He was a friend to all and will be truly missed by many. George is survived by his wife, Janet Stovall of Richardson, Texas; sons, Russ Stovall and wife, Janice also of Richardson, Texas and Marty Stovall of Nevada, Texas; sister, Micki Stovall of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Todd Stovall and wife, April of Princeton, Texas, Cody Stovall and wife Tara of McKinney, Texas, Jake Stovall and wife, Makessa of Union Valley, Texas, Cole Stovall of Nevada, Texas, Dottie Stovall Houghton of Wylie, Texas and Shelly Erwin and husband, Thad of Nacogdoches, Texas; great-grandchildren, Cory Houghton of Wylie, Texas, Colton Stovall of McKinney, Texas, Dalton Stovall of Princeton, Texas, Hunter Stovall also of Princeton, Texas, Jake Erwin of Nacogdoches, Texas and Heidi Erwin also of Nacogdoches; and a host of other loving family and friends.
A funeral service was held January 28, 2019 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Interment followed at Ridgeview Memorial Park inAllen, Texas.
